Screensavers and Branding Idle Screens

Published: · IZI Team

An idle PC with no screensaver is wasted advertising space. IZI lets you display images or video on those screens: schedules, promotions, tariffs, tournament announcements. Configure it once through the rules system — the platform applies content to the right devices at the right times automatically.

A screensaver rule defines three things: what to show (media file), where (specific PC, zone, or all devices), and when (schedule). The device uses content from the first rule that matches all three. If no rule matches — the screen stays blank.

The section is in the CRM sidebar: Equipment → Screensavers. The same section has a Banners tab for content during active sessions (banners work differently and are covered in the screensavers and banners overview).

  • CRM access with a role that includes the Equipment section
  • Media files: images JPG / PNG / WEBP (up to 5 files, each up to 10 MB) or a video MP4 (one file, up to 100 MB)
  • Devices added to the club — see connecting PCs to IZI

In the CRM sidebar go to Equipment → Screensavers. You’ll see the list of current rules — it may be empty on first setup.

Click Add screensaver. A form opens with three blocks: Creatives, Targeting, Configuration.

In the Creatives block, upload your files.

  • Images play in sequence in the order listed. Drag to reorder.
  • Video plays on a loop — you can’t add images to a video rule.
  • A live preview is available in the form before saving.

Typical content by purpose:

PurposeFormatFiles
Promotion / discountImage JPG/PNG1–3

Club promo videoVideo MP41

In the Targeting block, choose the target:

  • All devices — applies to every PC in the club
  • Zone — only devices in the selected zone (VIP, Pro, Standard — see zone setup)
  • Specific PC — one or more devices from the list

Zones and individual devices can be combined: the rule applies to any of the selected targets.

In the Configuration block:

  1. Enter a name — something descriptive for the admin (“Night promo”, “Saturday tournament”).
  2. Select a schedule — the time range when the rule is active.

If the content is permanent, leave the schedule blank or set it to cover the full day.

Click Save.

After saving, the rule appears in the list. The device shows content from the first matching rule — checked top to bottom.

Ordering logic:

  • Specific rules (narrow schedule, specific PC or zone) — higher up
  • General fallback rules (all devices, no schedule) — lower down

Drag rules to reorder.

Example order:

PositionRuleTargetSchedule
1Saturday tournamentVIP zoneSat 12:00–20:00
2Night promoAll devices22:00–08:00
3Base brandingAll devicesNo restriction

Rule 3 only fires if neither rule 1 nor rule 2 matched on time or zone.

After saving and ordering, open the hall view and confirm that idle PCs show the expected content. If a PC shows the wrong screensaver — check rule priority: a higher-priority rule may have an overlapping schedule.

Frequently asked questions

What shows on a PC when there's no active session?

The first active screensaver rule that matches the device and schedule. If no rule matches — the screen stays unbranded. Best practice: keep one fallback rule with no schedule and targeting All devices.

Can I show different content in different zones?

Yes. In the rule settings, select a zone as the target — VIP, Pro, or Standard. The rule applies only to devices in that zone. Create separate rules per zone with different content.

What media formats are supported?

Images: JPG, PNG, WEBP — up to 5 files per rule, max 10 MB each. Video: MP4 — one file per rule, max 100 MB. You can't mix images and video in the same rule.

How do I change rule priority?

In Equipment → Screensavers, drag rules into the order you want. The device shows content from the first rule that matches on target and schedule — rules below it are not checked.

What's the difference between a screensaver and a banner?

A screensaver is full-screen on PCs with no active session. A banner is a widget shown in the player interface during an active session. They're configured separately, both under Equipment → Screensavers.

Can I run a screensaver only during night hours?

Yes. Each rule has a schedule — a time range when it's active. Create two rules: one with daytime content, one with night content, and assign different time windows. A rule outside its schedule is simply skipped.
