Birthday Bonus
A birthday bonus is a loyalty rule in IZI that automatically credits bonus points to a client’s account on their birthday — no manual work for staff. IZI identifies birthday clients daily, credits the reward, and sends them a mobile app notification. For the club, it is a low-effort retention touch that brings clients back on a personally meaningful date.
How it works
Section titled “How it works”- IZI checks the birthday dates of all clients every day.
- Clients whose birthday falls today (or within the configured window) receive bonus points automatically.
- The client gets a push notification in the IZI mobile app: their balance has been topped up.
- The bonus appears on the client’s bonus balance and can be spent on their next visit.
Step 1 — Check birthday coverage
Section titled “Step 1 — Check birthday coverage”The rule only fires for clients who have a birthday date in their profile. Before activating it, go to Clients → filter “Birthday not set” to see how many accounts are missing the date — those clients will not receive the bonus.
To grow coverage, create a separate rule that credits a small fixed bonus for completing a profile. Clients will fill in the birthday field themselves once there is an incentive.
Step 2 — Create the rule
Section titled “Step 2 — Create the rule”- Open Bonuses → Create rule.
- Enter a clear Name, for example: “Birthday — base bonus”.
- Set the Trigger to Client birthday.
- The Segment field auto-fills with “Birthday clients” when you select this trigger.
Step 3 — Configure the period window
Section titled “Step 3 — Configure the period window”This is the most important parameter: how many days before and after the birthday the rule fires.
- Birthday only — triggers on the exact date; the client must visit today.
- 3–5 days before — the client sees the bonus in advance and plans the visit.
- Full week around the birthday — maximum flexibility; the client chooses when to come.
A window of ±3–5 days works well for most clubs: it preserves the celebratory feel while giving clients realistic scheduling freedom.
Step 4 — Set the bonus amount
Section titled “Step 4 — Set the bonus amount”Two options:
Fixed amount — the client receives a set number of bonus points regardless of any purchase. Simple and easy to communicate: “We give you 500 points on your birthday.”
Percentage of top-up — the birthday client earns a higher bonus rate when they top up their balance during the period. This motivates a larger top-up rather than a passive gift.
Choose based on your goal. A fixed amount feels like a gift. A percentage rewards active spending and drives higher session revenue.
Step 5 — Set the usage limit
Section titled “Step 5 — Set the usage limit”Set the limit to 1 application per client (or once per year). Without a limit, the rule can fire on every qualifying event within the period window, resulting in multiple accruals for one birthday.
Step 6 — Activate the rule
Section titled “Step 6 — Activate the rule”Save the rule and toggle the Active switch on. The rule starts running from the current day — no restart required.
What the client sees
Section titled “What the client sees”In the IZI mobile app the client receives a notification at the moment the bonus is credited. The message shows the updated balance. This is the prompt that brings them in for a visit.
Verifying the rule is working
Section titled “Verifying the rule is working”Go to Bonuses → select the rule → Statistics. You will see how many clients received the bonus this month and the total accrual amount. For a spot check, open a specific client’s card and review their bonus balance history to confirm the credit appeared on the correct date.

Frequently asked questions
Where does IZI get the client's birthday?
The birthday is taken from the client profile. Clients enter it when registering in the IZI mobile app, or an administrator fills it in through the client card in the CRM.
Can the bonus be credited before the actual birthday?
Yes. The period setting lets you trigger the rule N days before the birthday, so the client sees the bonus in advance and has a reason to plan a visit.
What if the client hasn't provided a birthday?
The rule will not fire — without a birthday date the client is not included in the birthday segment. Motivate clients to complete their profile by creating a separate rule that rewards profile completion.
Can you limit how many times one client receives the birthday bonus?
Yes. The rule settings include an application limit per client — typically set to once per year to prevent the rule from firing on every matching event within the period.
Can the birthday bonus be used on the same day it is received?
Yes. The bonus is credited to the client's bonus balance immediately and can be spent on sessions or bar orders (up to the configured percentage) right away.
