Fractional stock quantities in IZI

IZI stores every product’s stock level as a decimal number. This means a club bar, restaurant, or snack counter can run its inventory by weight or volume — receive goods in kilograms or litres, write them off in precise portions, and see an accurate balance after every transaction.

Before this change the stock field was an integer: the system truncated the fractional part during calculations and rounded down. Now stock is calculated internally with up to six decimal places and displayed with only as many digits as the value requires — no trailing zeros.

What this means for club owners

Previously, products sold by weight or volume had to be tracked in arbitrary “units” or operators had to accept accumulating rounding errors in write-off calculations.

These situations are now handled directly:

• Coffee beans — receive 5 kg; each latte writes off 0.018 kg. After 80 servings the balance reads 3.56 kg, not a rounded “3 units”.
• Bulk snacks — receive 2.5 kg, sell in 0.1 kg portions. The system accurately tracks every 100 g.
• Draught drinks — if a keg is received in litres, each glass writes off an exact share.
• Portioned items — a cake received as 1 unit and sold in slices of 0.125 (one eighth). After three slices the balance is 0.625.

The unit of measure is set in the product card. For weight and volume items, simply choose the appropriate unit — kg, g, L, mL, or another — and IZI will accept decimal values on receipts and write-offs.

Where fractional quantities appear

Product card

In Products (the club catalogue), the Stock column and the field inside the product card show the current value. Whole-number balances display without a decimal point; fractional balances show only the significant digits.

Inventory page

On the Warehouse → Inventory page the System qty column shows the accounting balance with its fractional part. The On hand input field also accepts decimal values — up to six places.

Stock export

The Export stock snapshot button on the inventory page downloads a snapshot of the warehouse. The Stock column in the export contains the decimal value for weight and volume items.

Warehouse history

In Warehouse → History, every operation — receipt, write-off, inventory adjustment — records the quantity with its fractional part. This lets you trace the exact movement chain for any product.

How precision works

The system stores stock in atomic units with a factor of 1,000,000. The minimum meaningful fraction is therefore one millionth. In practice, three decimal places are enough for most weight-based needs (grams when tracking in kilograms).

Display follows a simple rule:

• If the balance is a whole number, it appears without a decimal point: 12, not 12.000000.
• If it is fractional, only the necessary digits are shown: 4.8, 0.25, 1.125.

Setting up tracking in non-integer units

1. Open CRM → Products and go to the relevant product card.
2. In the Unit of measure field, select or create the unit you need — kg, L, g, mL, portion, etc.
3. Save the card.
4. On the next goods receipt, enter a decimal quantity — the system will accept it and record it in stock.

FIFO cost calculation works with decimal quantities the same way it does with whole numbers: each receipt layer stores its own cost, and partial write-offs are split proportionally.
