How to Close a Shift in IZI with a Report
How to Close a Shift in IZI with a Report
Section titled “How to Close a Shift in IZI with a Report”Closing a shift in IZI takes about three minutes. You open the Close Shift dialog, review totals across three payment channels — cash, cards, and mobile app — run a cash collection if needed, compare the Register Total against your fiscal register’s Z-report, and confirm. IZI then locks the shift, saves a financial snapshot to Shift History, and automatically starts a new period so all incoming transactions belong to the fresh shift. If your club has a fiscal register connected, IZI pulls its counters before you confirm, showing any discrepancy immediately rather than after you have already printed the Z-report.
Step 1. Open the Close Shift dialog
Section titled “Step 1. Open the Close Shift dialog”Navigate to the Shift section in the left CRM menu. In the top-right corner of the page, click Close Shift. The button is only active when a shift is open. If the dashboard looks blurred and says “Shift closed,” the shift has already been closed — open a new one to resume operations.
Clicking the button opens a modal dialog with the full financial summary for the current shift.
Step 2. Review totals by payment channel
Section titled “Step 2. Review totals by payment channel”The dialog shows three blocks side by side:
| Block | What it includes |
|---|---|
| Cash | Revenue, withdrawals, and total cash turnover |
| Bank Cards | Revenue, withdrawals, and total card turnover |
| App | Online payments made through the customer mobile app |
Below the three blocks, two summary rows appear:
Register Total — cash plus card payments combined. This is the number to match against your Z-report from the fiscal register. The dialog shows a hint: “Compare this figure with your Z-report.”
Grand Total — Register Total plus app payments. This number will legitimately differ from the Z-report because app payments do not pass through the fiscal register. When there are app payments in the shift, IZI displays a yellow badge: “{amount} from the app (not in register).”
Always use Register Total — not Grand Total — when reconciling with your fiscal register. The two numbers measure different things.
Step 3. Reconcile with the fiscal register (if connected)
Section titled “Step 3. Reconcile with the fiscal register (if connected)”When a fiscal register is configured for the club, IZI queries its counters automatically the moment you open the Close Shift dialog. The Close Shift button stays locked while the check runs — you will see a “Reconciling with register…” hint.
Three possible outcomes:
Totals match — a green badge reads “IZI totals match register counters.” You are clear to close.
Discrepancy detected — a red warning reads “IZI totals do not match register counters.” If you click Close Shift, a confirmation dialog appears:
“Close shift with discrepancy? IZI totals do not match the register. If you close now, the discrepancy will be recorded in the Z-report.”
Your options:
- Close Anyway — the shift closes and the discrepancy is logged in the report.
- Check / Detailed Reconciliation — opens the Reconciliation section, where every transaction is listed with statuses: Matched, Not in Register, Not in IZI, or Ambiguous.
Register unreachable — a warning reads “Register unavailable — reconciliation could not be completed.” Check the physical connection of your fiscal register.
Cash collection before closing
Section titled “Cash collection before closing”If you need to remove cash from the register before closing the shift, do it before confirming the close:
- On the Shift page, click Cash Collection.
- In the Collection Amount field, enter the amount — or click Full Amount to sweep all cash.
- In the Destination field, select which register receives the cash.
- Add a Comment (minimum 3 characters — this field is required).
- Click Next, then Confirm.
After confirmation, the CRM shows a notification: “Cash collection completed {date/time}. Removed from register: {amount}.” The In Register figure on the shift dashboard updates immediately.
The collection operation is saved to the shift history and appears in the shift report.
Step 4. Add a comment (optional)
Section titled “Step 4. Add a comment (optional)”At the bottom of the dialog there is a Comment text field — optional, up to 200 characters. Use it for handover notes such as “All discrepancies resolved before close” or “Register counted twice.” The comment is saved to Shift History and is visible to anyone with access to that section.
Step 5. Confirm the close
Section titled “Step 5. Confirm the close”Click Close Shift at the bottom of the dialog.
- No discrepancy — the shift closes immediately.
- Discrepancy present — a second confirmation (Popconfirm) appears before the shift closes.
After closing, IZI shows a notification: “Cash shift closed {date/time}. All operations for the period have been recorded.” The dashboard refreshes: current shift data moves to Shift History, and an Open Shift button replaces the Close Shift button.
Shift history and the final report
Section titled “Shift history and the final report”After closing, the shift is available in the Shift History section. Each shift card shows:
| Field | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Opened | Date and time the shift was opened |
| Duration | Total length of the shift |
| Opened by / Closed by | Staff names |
| Total | Total revenue for the shift |
| In Register | Cash balance remaining in the register after closing |
Expanding a shift card reveals detailed breakdowns:
- Payment methods — a pie chart: cash, cards, app.
- Revenue categories — breakdown by type: sessions, bar, combo, other.
- Bonuses accrued — total bonuses credited to customers during the shift.
- Bonuses spent — total bonus points redeemed for payments during the shift.
You can filter the history by date range and by staff member.
Interim report (X-report) without closing
Section titled “Interim report (X-report) without closing”If you need current totals without closing the shift — for example to check mid-shift performance — click Interim Report on the Shift page. IZI sends an X-report to the connected fiscal register and shows a notification: “Interim report (X-report) printed.” This button is only available when a fiscal register integration is active.

What happens if a shift exceeds 24 hours
Section titled “What happens if a shift exceeds 24 hours”IZI monitors shift duration. If a shift has been open for more than 24 hours, the next cash operation triggers a system prompt:
“Current shift has exceeded 24 hours. It will be closed automatically and a new shift will open. Continue?”
Confirming closes the old shift and opens a new one. The Shift History entry for the auto-closed shift is marked with an auto-rotation note.
Frequently asked questions
Section titled “Frequently asked questions”Can I undo a shift close? No. Closing a shift is irreversible — all transactions are already locked to that period. If a shift was closed by mistake, open a new shift and continue working.
Why is the Close Shift button grayed out? Make sure a shift is actually open — the dashboard should show live financial metrics without blurring. If the page says “Shift closed,” the shift has already been closed.
Why is register reconciliation unavailable for already-closed shifts? The fiscal register only holds counters for the currently open shift. For closed shifts, IZI offers Detailed Reconciliation — a line-by-line comparison using fiscal receipt numbers.
What is “Accrual-basis revenue” on the shift dashboard? It is charges (CHARGE) minus refunds (REFUND) against gaming balance for the shift period. This differs from cash revenue because customer balance top-ups and gaming session charges are separate operations in IZI.
Do I need to close a shift every day? It depends on your club’s schedule. IZI does not force daily closes, but any shift longer than 24 hours is auto-rotated. For accurate period-based financial reports, the recommended practice is to open a shift at the start of each working day and close it at the end.
How do I resolve a discrepancy between IZI and the fiscal register? Go to the Reconciliation section. Every transaction is listed with one of four statuses: Matched, Not in Register, Not in IZI, or Ambiguous. For each line you can reprint the receipt, add the transaction to IZI, or print a copy. Once all discrepancies are resolved, return to the shift dashboard and close the shift.
Frequently asked questions
Where is the Close Shift button in IZI?
Go to the Shift section in the left CRM menu. The Close Shift button is in the top-right corner of the page. It is only active when a shift is currently open — if the shift is already closed, the button is replaced with a 'Shift closed' label and the dashboard is blurred.
What does the Close Shift dialog show?
Three payment channel blocks side by side: Cash (revenue, withdrawals, turnover), Bank Cards (same three lines), and App (online payments made through the mobile app). Below those blocks are two summary rows: Register Total for reconciliation with your fiscal register, and Grand Total which also includes app payments.
Why are there two totals — Register Total and Grand Total?
Register Total covers cash plus card payments — this is the figure to compare against your Z-report from the fiscal register. Grand Total adds online app payments on top. App payments do not go through the fiscal register, so Grand Total will legitimately differ from the Z-report figure.
What happens during fiscal register reconciliation at shift close?
If a fiscal register is configured for your club, IZI automatically queries its counters as soon as you open the Close Shift dialog. The Close Shift button stays locked while the check runs. A green badge means totals match; a red warning means there is a discrepancy. You can close anyway (the discrepancy is recorded in the Z-report) or open the detailed reconciliation view to resolve it first.
Can I close a shift that has a discrepancy?
Yes. IZI shows a confirmation dialog — Close Anyway or Check (Detailed Reconciliation). If you close with a discrepancy, IZI records it in the Z-report. You can also navigate to the Reconciliation section to resolve the mismatch before confirming the close.
How do I run cash collection before closing the shift?
On the Shift page, tap the Cash Collection button. Enter the amount (or tap Full Amount), select the destination register, add a comment (minimum 3 characters, required), then confirm. IZI deducts the cash from the current register immediately and logs the operation in the shift history.
