Put a PC on Hold in the Hall
Put a PC on Hold in the Hall
Section titled “Put a PC on Hold in the Hall”Hold blocks a specific PC from accepting bookings or new sessions for a defined window of time. Use it whenever a device is temporarily out of action — hardware maintenance, deep cleaning, a long game update, or a peripheral swap. Once the hold end time passes, IZI automatically releases the PC back to available status.
From a business perspective, holds protect revenue-per-seat accuracy: a PC marked as Hold does not count as idle capacity in the Hall view, and staff cannot accidentally start a paying session on a device that is not ready. The Reason field creates a lightweight audit trail visible to all admins without needing a separate maintenance log.
Step 1. Open the device menu
Section titled “Step 1. Open the device menu”In the Hall section, locate the PC you need to block. Click the three-dot icon on its row to open the context menu. The menu lists all actions available for that device in its current state.
Step 2. Create a hold
Section titled “Step 2. Create a hold”Select Create Hold from the context menu.
Step 3. Enter a reason
Section titled “Step 3. Enter a reason”Type a short description in the Reason field — for example, “Mouse replacement” or “Game updates”. This note shows in the Hall view so other admins understand at a glance why the PC is unavailable without needing to ask the shift supervisor.
Step 4. Set the end time
Section titled “Step 4. Set the end time”Fill in End Date and End Time. The PC stays blocked until this exact moment. If you are unsure how long maintenance will take, set a generous buffer — you can always release the hold early (see below).
Step 5. Confirm
Section titled “Step 5. Confirm”Click Create Hold. The device status changes to Hold and new bookings become impossible until the hold expires.
Result: the PC is reserved for technical use and a hold block is visible in the Hall. Other staff can see both the hold label and the reason you entered.
Remove a hold early
Section titled “Remove a hold early”Open the device menu (three-dot icon) and choose Remove Hold — the PC returns to available status immediately, before the scheduled end time. Use this once maintenance finishes ahead of schedule so the seat starts generating revenue again without waiting.
When to use holds vs. other actions
Section titled “When to use holds vs. other actions”Hold is the right tool for planned, time-bounded downtime. For an unplanned outage where you do not know the end time, you can still create a hold with a far-future end date and remove it early once the device is repaired. If the device is being permanently retired, update its status in the device settings instead of relying on an indefinitely extended hold.
Common situations
Section titled “Common situations”| Situation | Solution |
|---|---|
| The PC has an active session | End the session first, then create the hold |
| Cannot remove the hold | Open the device menu, select Remove Hold, then refresh the page |
| Maintenance finished early | Remove the hold immediately so the seat becomes bookable again |
