Optimising a Computer Club's Profile on Local Map Services
Optimising a Computer Club’s Profile on Local Map Services
Section titled “Optimising a Computer Club’s Profile on Local Map Services”Local map services are a primary geo-acquisition channel for clubs. Your profile must be complete: correct categories, hall and equipment photos, accurate operating hours, active review responses.
This page covers the methodology for optimising local map profiles — applicable to Google Maps (covered in detail in the separate Google Maps guide) as well as regional services like Yandex Maps and 2GIS for Russian-speaking markets.
Key Optimisation Steps
Section titled “Key Optimisation Steps”Regardless of which map service you’re optimising, the core steps are the same:
1. Register and Verify Your Profile
Section titled “1. Register and Verify Your Profile”Find or create your club’s listing in the business management interface. Fill in:
- Official club name (no keyword stuffing)
- Category: “Gaming Club” or “Internet Cafe”
- Complete address with postcode
- Phone number
- Website or social media link
- Opening hours including public holidays
- Full description (use keywords naturally — “gaming club in [area],” “tournaments,” “equipment”)
Complete the verification process — unverified profiles rank significantly lower.
2. Add Photos
Section titled “2. Add Photos”Photos are a strong ranking and click-through factor. Minimum 10–15 photos, covering:
- Hall with PCs (wide shot and close-ups)
- Exterior and entrance
- Reception/admin desk
- VIP or special zones (if applicable)
- Bar or snack area
- Tournament or event moments
Update photos regularly — fresh photos signal an active business.
3. Fill in Attributes and Services
Section titled “3. Fill in Attributes and Services”Most map services let you add attributes — tags visible to users in the listing:
- Payment methods (card, cash, contactless)
- Facilities (Wi-Fi, restroom, air conditioning)
- Accessibility (wheelchair access if available)
- Parking information
4. Manage Reviews Systematically
Section titled “4. Manage Reviews Systematically”Reviews are the primary factor for top-3 placement. Strategy:
Getting reviews: ask personally after positive visits. Use a QR code at the register linking directly to your review form.
Responding to reviews: respond to every review within 24–48 hours:
- Positive: brief thanks, invite to return
- Negative: acknowledge, resolve, invite to reach out directly
- Fake/abusive: report to the platform and respond professionally
What not to do: never buy reviews, never offer cash rewards for reviews (violates platform policies).
5. Keep Information Current
Section titled “5. Keep Information Current”Update your listing immediately whenever anything changes: hours, address, phone number, or closure for renovations. A client arriving at the wrong time due to outdated information leaves a negative review.
Regional Note: Yandex Maps and 2GIS
Section titled “Regional Note: Yandex Maps and 2GIS”For clubs in Russia and CIS countries, Yandex Maps often has higher market share than Google Maps in many cities.
Yandex Business (business.yandex.ru): the free management interface for Yandex Maps listings. Works identically to Google Business Profile — complete filling, verification, photos, review responses.
2GIS (info.2gis.ru): a widely-used local directory, particularly popular in Russian cities. 2GIS manually verifies organisations, so adding a listing takes several days.
For these markets, maintaining profiles on both Yandex Maps and 2GIS (in addition to Google Maps) significantly expands organic reach.
Monitoring Results
Section titled “Monitoring Results”Each map service provides analytics in the business management interface:
- Profile views
- Route/directions requests
- Phone calls from the listing
Key business metric — new clients. Track in IZI CRM Analytics: if new clients are growing after optimising map profiles — the channel is working.
Maintenance Schedule
Section titled “Maintenance Schedule”| Frequency | Action |
|---|---|
| Weekly | Add a new photo, respond to new reviews |
| Monthly | Check that all information is current, post an update/event if available |
| On any change | Immediately update hours, address, phone on all platforms |

Frequently asked questions
How do local map services differ from Google Maps for club promotion?
In Russia and CIS countries, Yandex Maps is often used more than Google Maps — especially in cities where Yandex has a stronger presence. The ranking algorithms are similar, but Yandex additionally considers the organisation's rating on Yandex Maps and activity in Yandex services. Both channels are mandatory for clubs in those markets.
How quickly does a club appear on local map services after adding it?
After submitting a listing, the review process takes 1–5 business days. After approval, the club appears in search. Verification by phone call or in-person visit takes up to 2 additional weeks but gives significantly better placement.
What is a Business Manager tool and do you need to pay for it?
Most map services offer a free Business Manager or equivalent tool for managing your listing. Free functionality covers everything needed for organic promotion: editing information, adding photos, responding to reviews. Paid promotion is a separate option for advertising.
How do you manage reviews on local map services?
Respond to every review through the business management interface. On positive reviews — a brief thank-you. On negative — acknowledge the issue, offer to contact you personally. Map services count owner responses as an active business signal.
